God is good.
Shortly after Shep was born RC and I talked about him beginning to meet every Monday night with a student, Josh, from our church’s youth group for discipleship. We agreed that is what God has for him to do, and so after we would get the kids in bed Ryan would pick Josh up and take him to coffee. The night of their first meeting, by God’s providence, Josh told RC that even though he had been coming to church/youth group for almost a year, he did not know Christ personally and wanted to know how to do that. So at Starbucks Josh met Jesus. When Ryan came home and told me I cried. How awesome to be a part of life change!
Fast forward 10 weeks, Josh graduated from high school and would be leaving for Marine boot camp. During their 10 weeks of Monday-night discipleship, Ryan had been teaching Josh about the basics of the Christian faith and had Josh go through certain spiritual disciplines/exercises to help him grow in knowing Jesus better. I do not remember them all, but among them were sharing his faith with others, loving God through reading/studying God’s word, serving/loving others, being baptized & telling others about Jesus.
The night before we left for Ryan’s 30th Birthday Surprise Trip, RC had the privilege of joining Pastor Dave in baptizing Josh before his friends and family before leaving for basic training.
We’re so proud of you Josh and are excited to hear where God takes you along the journey!

Waht an awesome experience for both Ryan and Josh. We pray that as this young man is in a tough time (boot camp) that he willl feel God’s presence and that he will be able to grow in him. I hope that Ryan is able to remain a part of Josh’w life…he seems like a neat kid.
Crying… again. Your blog always gets me.
Praise God!! Such an awesome experience for all who were involved. God works in such amazing ways
