Linden Paige is 3 years old!
LP turned 3 years old on June 20, which rounded out our 3 day celebration extravagzanza with RC’s 30th, Father’s Day, and then LP’s b-day.
I honestly cannot believe she is 3. Linden is turning in to such a kind, lovely and fun little girl and it is a joy watching her grow! I am especially savoring the conversations and activities we share together – the conversations typically include much talking, laughing and our activities are usually centered around pretend & real picnics, playing with dolls, coloring, playing sidewalk chalk and singing & dancing. Is not one of the best parts of parenting sharing the innocent fun and silliness with your children?!
I normally work Mondays & Tuesdays, but since her birthday fell on a Monday this year, I just switched days around and the 2 of us spent a special morning together while my friend, Robyn, watched Shepherd for me. At Linden’s request we went swimming for a couple of hours and shared a treat afterwards. That evening Nana & Papa E. came over for birthday dinner (grilled BBQ chicken, homemade PW’s Mac & Cheese, corn on the cob & green beans) and cake/ice cream. Linden got to open the Thomas the Train Shake Shake Bridge from Nana & Papa and a new outdoor picnic table from us. RC and I were glad to have his parent’s help in putting together the picnic table!
Some fabulously fantastic things about Linden at age 3:
- She loves purple, pink and has now decided to balance those favs out with a new fondness for green and blue
- When asked to apologize for doing something naughty she will say, “I forgive you, okay?”
- She weighed 30 lbs (50th %) and was 39 inches tall (50th %) at her 3 year check-up. The peditrician said that LP’s verbal skills were that of a child in kindergarten – she exercises these skills often and has a lot to share with anyone listening (or not listening!)
- Is an awesome big sister and very loving to Shepherd
- Can count to 20 (although she generally tries skipping 15)
- Likes to ask to eat “al fresco” – “mommy, that is a fancy way of saying eating outside.” Thank you Fancy Nancy.
- Her favorite books are Fancy Nancy, Mudgy & Millie, Cinderella & The Birthday Ball, Weighty Words
- Enjoys doing craft projects
- Loves watching Thomas & Friends and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
- Her latest prayers generally go something like “Dear Jesus, thank you for today. Thank you for (names everyone she sees at the table). Thank you for our Savior(s). Thank you for our blessings. Amen! (after the prayer is over) We have a lot of blessings don’t we mommy?!” We do sweet girl, and you are one of the best!
